Dr. Michael Mellon is a graduate of the Temple University School of Medicine and a pediatric residency at the Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. He completed a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the UCSD School of Medicine and is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at that institution.
Dr. Mellon is chairman of the Pediatric Asthma Task Force for the San Diego Kaiser Region where he is a Pediatric Allergist. He is an investigator for the Childhood Asthma Management Program (CAMP) and for the Childhood Asthma Research and Education (CARE) network.
Dr. Mellon is a member of the board of directors of the Allergy and Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics organization. He is past-chairman of the AAAAI Academy CAN! Program for community service by Allergists to inner city community clinics and received the AAAAI Community Outreach Award for 2005.

Dr. Steele is proficient in designing and implementing chronic disease care programs as a respiratory clinical nurse specialist for the VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS), where she has worked for the past 17 years.
She serves as an adult nurse practitioner in the Pulmonary and Home Oxygen Clinics. In this capacity she is a consultant and cares for patients with chronic pulmonary illness, including health assessment, chronic disease self-management, monitoring of oxygenation and prescription of home oxygen and medications, smoking cessation, and other therapeutics. In addition, for the past 16 years she has led the VAPSHCS pulmonary rehabilitation program, including 12 years of VA grant support in the study of activity monitoring in chronic illness and pulmonary rehabilitation. She also conducts in-service education of nursing staff regarding respiratory patient care, policy and program development; smoking cessation, pulmonary rehabilitation, allergy immunotherapy, quality improvement and is chairperson of the Nursing Research Committee, which supports nursing staff in research and quality improvement activities.
Dr. Steele is currently an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Care Systems at the University of Washington. Prior to her position at the Seattle VA, Dr. Steele served over the past three decades as an RN in the Allergy and Pulmonary Clinics of Pacific Medical Center, and as a teaching and research assistant at the University of Washington School of Nursing Prior to moving to the state of Washington, she was a professor of nursing for the Department of Nursing at California State University, Los Angeles, and clinical specialist in the respiratory and burn intensive care units of LA County- USC Medical Center. Dr. Steele has been lead author of numerous clinical research studies in pulmonary rehabilitation, COPD self-management, and smoking cessation that have appeared in leading peer-reviewed journals including the New England Journal of Nursing, Chest, Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical-Care Medicine, and Advances in Nursing Science. She has also contributed chapters to medical, nursing, and technical text books regarding health care instrumentation and the care of patients with chronic pulmonary illness.
The winner of numerous awards over the years Dr. Steele was honored with the VA Secretary's Nursing Excellence Award for Advanced Practice in 2001.
She is a member of American Thoracic Society, the Washington Thoracic Society, and served on the Department of Veterans Affairs Expert Panel for the Clinical Guidelines for Asthma and COPD in 1997. She is a licensed registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner in the State of Washington.
